The GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS is the first interchangeable lens action camera. MFT (Micro Four Thirds) is one of the most widely used interchangeable lens systems in the world — compatible with Olympus (OM System) and Panasonic Lumix lenses, as well as the entire ecosystem of MFT adapters.
What specifically does this allow:
The 1-inch sensor with 14 EV dynamic range alone is a significant step forward. With MFT optics with a large aperture, the performance changes even more fundamentally — an f/1.4 lens with a 14 EV sensor captures an amount of light in a dark environment that neither the sensor nor the lens could previously resolve on its own. For filmmakers shooting in reduced light (dawn, sunset, interior with a lighting situation), this combination is a qualitative leap.
If you're working with an Olympus OM-D, OM System, Panasonic Lumix GH6/G9 or other MFT body, the Mission 1 Pro ILS adds something to your system that didn't exist before: a rugged, waterproof body with 8K/60fps capability that uses your existing lenses. The GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS is compatible with MFT (Micro Four Thirds) format lenses. If you own MFT lenses, they are compatible directly without an adapter.

Yes. The GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS directly extends the MFT system — your existing Olympus or OM System lenses work with this camera without an adapter. You get a waterproof, rugged body with 8K/60fps capability for your MFT lenses.

The video parameters are identical: 8K/60fps, 4K/240fps, 14 EV, 1-inch sensor. The only — but fundamental — difference is in the lens system. The Mission 1 Pro has a fixed lens with a native 159° field of view. The Mission 1 Pro ILS supports MFT lens swapping — which changes the field of view, depth of field, and aperture depending on the lens attached.
Information on waterproofing with different lenses will be clarified after the official launch. GoPro guarantees waterproofing to 20m for the camera body as standard — with a specific lens, the level of protection will depend on the lens design and bayonet seal.
