DJI Matrice 400 – Professional drone with long endurance and advanced sensor system

The DJI Matrice 400 is a top-of-the-line professional drone with an exceptional flight endurance of up to 59 minutes, capable of carrying up to 6 kg of payload and combining up to 7 sensors at once. It is equipped with an advanced obstacle detection system at the power line level (rotating LiDAR, mmWave radar, full-color fish-eye sensors), allows reliable video transmission up to 20 km away and has intelligent flight modes such as Cruise, FlyTo, Smart Track or Powerline Follow. Ideal for security checks, mapping, geodesy, energy inspections and rescue missions even in the most demanding conditions.

Main advantages of the DJI Matrix 400:

  • Maximum flight speed up to 25 m/s with advanced obstacle avoidance.

  • IP55 certification for reliability in harsh weather conditions.

  • Support for various payloads: cameras (Zenmuse H30T, P1, L2), spotlights (Zenmuse S1), speakers (Zenmuse V1).

  • Smart features: Airborne Relay, automatic terrain tracking, AR projections for more efficient field work.

Extended flight time, High speed performance

Excellent flight capabilities offer up to 59 minutes of forward flight even with a payload and up to 53 minutes of hovering [6]. A reliable tool for long-term, continuous operations such as search and rescue, firefighting and large-scale mapping. It can also avoid large obstacles [3] such as buildings and mountains at flight speeds of up to 25 m/s.

Multiple payloads

The Matrice 400’s powerful payload capacity allows it to easily meet the demands of a wide range of applications. With a maximum payload of 6 kg [2], the Matrice 400 supports seamless switching between single-down [8] and dual-down [8] modes. It also features a third gimbal connector on the bottom for added flexibility. The drone is equipped with 4 external E-Port V2 ports [7], allowing up to 7 payloads to be mounted simultaneously.

Safe and reliable flight

The Matrice 400 is IP55 rated [9], allowing it to operate reliably in harsh conditions, including heavy dust or rain. It also maintains stable performance in temperatures from -20° to 50° C (-4° to 122° F), and delivers consistent results in both hot and cold conditions.

Obstacle detection at the power line level [3]

The Matrice 400’s advanced obstacle sensing system integrates rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar, and full-color fisheye sensors for low light [13]. The system detects even small obstacles, such as high-voltage power lines in mountainous terrain—even in the dark [3]. It can penetrate rain and fog to sense its surroundings, providing enhanced safety in challenging weather conditions.

Robust video transmission

O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission System With a ten-antenna system on the aircraft and a high-gain phased array antenna system on the remote controller, the O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission System can achieve image transmission up to 40 km [10].

Aerial Video Transmission [5] The Matrice 400 has a built-in relay module for video transmission. With this setup, one Matrice 400 can serve as a relay drone, flying at high altitude and relaying signals to another Matrice 400 operating at a greater distance. This capability greatly extends the transmission range, making it ideal for search and rescue missions as well as inspections in mountainous areas.

Omnidirectional sensing performance [12], powered by rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar, and full-color fisheye low-light sensors, gives the Matrice 400 powerful positioning capabilities. It can fly stably near glass-fronted buildings or wind turbine blades, and safely return from building edges, mountain foundations, or bridges, even if the home point has not been updated.

Four full-color fisheye sensors for low-light conditions in the aircraft provide full-color vision assistance [13] for safer flight.

Improved drone intelligence and efficiency

Intelligent detection [14]

With the visible and thermal imaging capabilities of the Zenmuse H30 series, the Matrice 400 can detect vehicles, vessels and objects during search and rescue operations or routine flights. It also supports migration to other models, enabling expanded application scenarios. In addition, it supports high-resolution photography and offers powerful tracking functions.

Intelligent AR projection

AR Power Lines - During tasks such as power line inspections, the obstacle sensing system automatically detects obstacles in the forward wires [3] and displays easily recognizable AR lines on the remote controller screen, providing a clear view of the surrounding environment at a glance and ensuring safer flight.

AR Map Display - When operating day or night in urban areas, the remote can display real-time building and landmark names and mark major roads with bold lines.

AR Flight Point - During tasks such as power line inspection, the obstacle sensing system automatically detects obstacles in the forward conductors [3] and displays easily recognizable AR lines on the remote controller, providing a clear view of the surrounding environment at a glance and ensuring flight verification.

Live Annotation - Without modeling, you can mark points on the remote controller screen to determine the position of objects, draw lines to measure distances between multiple points, and mark areas to calculate their size. Measurement results can be synced to DJI FlightHub 2 to increase team efficiency.

Real-time Terrain Tracking - The Matrice 400 supports real-time terrain tracking in any horizontal direction [15]. This feature can be activated during both manual and automated flight paths, ensuring a stable altitude relative to the ground. During large-scale search and rescue operations, it is possible to maintain a consistent size of ground objects on the remote controller screen, reducing the need for frequent zoom adjustments and increasing efficiency. During mapping missions, it is possible to maintain a consistent ground sampling distance (GSD) to obtain highly accurate map data.

Ship Takeoff and Landing [16] - To meet the needs of offshore operations such as maritime patrols and wind turbine inspections, the Matrice 400 is equipped with ship takeoff and landing capabilities, supporting takeoff from stationary vessels and landing on moving vessels. By detecting landing point patterns on board, it can achieve safe and precise landings.

Intelligent flight modes
