DJI Osmo Pocket 4: What we know so far ahead of official launch

Balenie DJI Osmo Pocket 4, prenosná kamera s gimbal stabilizáciou, zobrazená na pozadí prírodnej scenérie s morom a skalami.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is coming out on April 16, 2026 – and thanks to months of leaks from retail stores, we know more about it than DJI plans to say on stream. One lens, 14 EV dynamic range, 4K/240fps and 107 GB of internal storage. In this article, we compare the Pocket 4 vs. Pocket 3, estimate prices for the Slovak and European markets and advise for whom the upgrade really makes sense.

Are you considering upgrading from the Pocket 3? Or are you looking for your first decent gimbal camera and don't want to buy something that will end up on sale in a month?

April 16th is the right moment to decide.

DJI confirmed the reveal date on Twitter on April 9th – April 16th, 2026 at 12:00 GMT – with the tagline “The World In My Pocket”. But most of what was to be revealed on the stream was already known to the community weeks in advance. Retail boxes photographed in warehouses, disassembled quick-start guides, a prototype in the hands of a salesperson in a Kuala Lumpur store. None of this looked like a marketing render.

In this article, Xtreme.sk summarizes everything that is available before the official reveal.

What is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 – and who is it for?

The Osmo Pocket 4 is a gimbal camera – the image stabilization here is not software, but mechanical. Three physical axes keep the lens level regardless of the operator's movement. The result is qualitatively different from action cameras, where shake is compensated for in post-production.

It's not an action camera. It's not a classic vlogger camera. It's a compact gimbal camera with a 1-inch sensor - and in this combination, it has no real rival on the market since 2023.

The camera is intended for:

  • Vloggers and short video creators – Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok
  • Travelers who don't want to carry heavy equipment
  • Videographers and filmmakers looking for a reliable B-camera with 10-bit D-Log and 14 EV dynamic range
  • Anyone who wants professional results without having to deal with an external stabilizer

What the Pocket 4 is not : a waterproof outdoor camera. For rafting, surfing, or filming in the rain, we recommend a GoPro.

When and for how much – date, availability, price

Official launch: April 16, 2026 at 12:00 GMT.

The product is expected to be available for sale in 1-2 weeks – strategically timed during NAB Week in Las Vegas, where content creators and videographers flock to every major product launch. Chinese distributors already have stock, according to multiple sources.

Estimated price Slovak and European market:

  • Basic model: 500-530 EUR
  • Creator Combo (with microphone, light, ND filters and accessories): 600 - 650 EUR

The official European awards will be announced on April 16th.

Confirmed specifications: What is printed directly on the retail box

This information is not based on speculation. OsitaLV, one of the most reliable leakers in the DJI community, has shared photos of the final retail packaging of the Creator Combo. The specifications are printed directly on the back of the box.

Sensor, image and color

1-inch CMOS sensor – the same format as the Pocket 3. Part of the community was hoping for APS-C, but DJI stuck with 1 inch. Given the compact dimensions of the body, this is an understandable and practical decision.

14 EV dynamic range – this is the first real qualitative shift compared to the previous generation. A shot by the sea in the midday sun, where the sky and water must maintain their shape at the same time – this is where the Pocket 3 starts to lag behind. The Pocket 4 offers significantly more margin for working with contrast.

10-bit D-Log – not D-Log M, but straight D-Log. For colorists working in DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere, this is a significant difference in the grading workflow. The wider gamut means more room for color correction without losing detail in highlights or shadows.

4K/240fps – confirmed on the retail packaging. This is double the speed of the Pocket 3, which offered 4K/120fps. Slow motion in 4K is a significant step forward for creators working with dynamic scenes.

There has been community speculation about a potential 6K resolution, but this value has not been directly stated on the retail packaging. We consider this to be unconfirmed until official specifications are released.

2x lossless zoom – not digital interpolation, but physical cropping from a 1-inch sensor. It works smoothly even during recording and without loss of image quality.

Physical controls – one of the most significant changes compared to Pocket 3

The Pocket 3 didn't have a physical zoom button. Zooming required a pinch gesture on the touchscreen while recording - quite inconvenient when using it one-handed. The Pocket 4 fixes this shortcoming:

  • Dedicated zoom button – 1× single press, 2× double press
  • Programmable Custom button for custom functions according to workflow
  • 5D joystick for gimbal head movement
  • Rotating display Turns the camera on and off with a physical twist, not a button

The 2-inch OLED touchscreen with 1,000 nits of brightness ensures good readability even in direct sunlight.

Storage – confirmed capacity, unconfirmed microSD slot

The 107GB of integrated storage with 800MB/s transfer rate via USB 3.1 is a significant improvement over the Pocket 3, which had no internal storage at all.

There is no visible microSD slot on the retail packaging, which has sparked a debate among users about its possible absence. However, it is important to distinguish: the absence of a mention on the packaging does not automatically mean that the camera does not include one. DJI emphasizes premium features on the boxes, and the built-in storage is the main selling point of the product in this case.

Practical considerations speak for themselves: 107 GB is enough for regular vlogging in 4K/60fps. When shooting in 4K/240fps, the capacity decreases significantly faster. Professional creators shooting with multiple cameras or requiring physical backup of footage would not be able to work reliably without a microSD slot. For this reason, we assume that the slot is present in the camera - confirmation will come on April 16.

Wi-Fi 6 replaces Wi-Fi 5 from the Pocket 3. Wireless transfer of images to your mobile phone reaches up to 90 MB/s.

Sound

OsmoAudio 4-channel output – Pocket 3 worked with three-microphone stereo recording. Pocket 4 adds a fourth channel and can record both voice and ambient sounds simultaneously. In editing software, these channels can be processed separately, which speeds up the post-production workflow.

Audio Zoom It adapts the character of the captured sound to the current zoom level. The result is a more natural-looking result and eliminates the mismatch between image and sound in post-production.

Important note before buying: according to the leak, the Creator Combo will include the DJI Mic 3, not the Mic 2. The DJI Mic 3 is more compact and easier to transport, but it lacks the local backup of the recording directly in the transmitter that the Mic 2 offers. For travel vlogs, this is a full-fledged solution, but for conversations and interviews in more demanding situations, we recommend considering the DJI Mic 2 or another external microphone with local backup.

Battery

  • Capacity: 1,545mAh
  • Charges to 80% in 18 minutes
  • Declared endurance: 240 minutes at 1080p/24fps

When shooting at higher resolutions and frame rates, battery life drops significantly. For all-day shooting, we recommend having a Battery Handle or external power bank available.

AI features and tracking

ActiveTrack 7.0 tracks subjects, including distant objects, even at 4x zoom. This is a step up in tracking accuracy for moving targets compared to version 6.0 on the Pocket 3.

Also available are: Subject Lock Tracking, Registered Subject Priority (the preset subject has priority in case of focus conflicts), gesture control - a raised palm activates or deactivates ActiveTrack, the "V" gesture starts recording.

SpinShot, Motionlapse, Auto Landscape/Portrait and Slow Shutter Video – the creative modes from Pocket 3 are retained and expanded with new options.

Timecode with a deviation of less than 1 frame per 8 hours enables precise synchronization in multi-camera productions.

Pocket 4 vs. Pocket 3 comparison: Is it worth the upgrade?

Function Osmo Pocket 4 Osmo Pocket 3
Sensor 1-inch CMOS 1-inch CMOS
Dynamic range 14 EV ~12.8 EV
Max video 4K/240fps 4K/120fps
Color profile D-Log D-Log M / HLG
Zoom button Yes – physical No
Integrated storage 107GB None
Transfer (cable) 800MB/s (USB 3.1) USB 2.0
Wi-Fi Wi-Fi 6 Wi-Fi 5
Sound 4-channel (OsmoAudio) Stereo
ActiveTrack 7.0 6.0
MicroSD slot Probably yes (unconfirmed) Yes

The Pocket 3 remains a quality product even after the announcement of its successor. If you shoot mostly in 4K/60fps or 4K/120fps with it and the results suit you, an immediate upgrade is not necessary. Moving to the Pocket 4 makes sense specifically if you encounter dynamic range limits in contrasting scenes, you miss physical zoom control, or you need reliable internal storage with high-speed transfer.

DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro: What is it and when is it coming?

Months before the official unveiling, there was community speculation that the standard Pocket 4 would come with two lenses. A DJI teaser from April 9th definitively disproved this – the standard model has a single lens with 2x lossless zoom.

However, a dual-lens model does exist. It's called the Pocket 4 Pro, has its own FCC number (2ANDR PP041), and is a separate model - not a higher-end variant of the same product. According to available speculation, it has a different design and color profile, potentially following on from the Hasselblad collaboration.

What is not yet confirmed: launch date, price, or availability for the EU and US. Complicating matters for the US market is the fact that the FCC registration of the Pocket 4 Pro took place after DJI was placed on the Covered List in December 2025. The European situation is still open. The expected launch is in May or June 2026.

If you are considering the Pro version, we recommend waiting for more information after April 16. There is too little data available yet.

Open questions: What the community is still working on

The camera itself is just the beginning. These are the accessories that will really affect the quality of the resulting footage:

ND filters are a must when shooting outdoors in sunny weather. Without them, it is impossible to follow the 180° shutter rule and achieve natural motion blur. DJI offers its own ND sets, for higher optical quality and more accurate color reproduction we recommend also considering PolarPro filters compatible with the Pocket series.

Fill light is part of the Creator Combo. When choosing the basic model, an external LED light is a great help for indoor shots and low-light situations. The integrated Pocket 4 light with 3 temperature levels is a good addition, not a replacement for a full-fledged external light.

Battery Handle or external power bank recommended for all-day filming. The declared 240 minutes applies at 1080p/24fps - at higher settings, the endurance drops significantly.

Microphone : The Creator Combo will come with a DJI Mic 3. For interviews, multi-person recording, or situations where sound is a critical factor, we recommend considering the DJI Mic 2 or another external microphone with local recording backup directly in the transmitter.

Competition: What's next to the Pocket 4?

Insta360 Luna – the only announced direct rival with a gimbal head and dual-lens system so far. Since the standard Pocket 4 has a single lens, the Luna retains this differentiating argument. However, it is still not available on the market – and if DJI launches sales around April 16 for 500-550 EUR, the Luna enters the comparison without the possibility of direct testing on the customer side.

GoPro Hero 13 / Hero 14 / DJI Osmo Action 6 – a different category. Waterproof, rugged cameras designed for extreme conditions. Pocket 4 will offer better images and depth of field in most common lighting conditions. GoPro is the right choice where durability is concerned – diving, extreme sports, heavy rain.

Sony ZV-1F / ZV-E10 – quality cameras for vloggers, but without an integrated gimbal. In terms of size, weight, and resulting workflow, they are in a different category.

For short video creation and vlogging, where a professional image in a compact and portable body is a priority, the Pocket 4 currently has no direct and affordable competitor on the market.

Is it worth the wait?

If you're looking for a gimbal camera in 2026, we recommend waiting until April 16th. Not that the Pocket 3 has lost its value. It's still one of the best products in its category. However, buying it at full price a few days before the successor is revealed wouldn't be a wise decision.

If the Pocket 4 confirms what the leaks suggest – 14 EV dynamic range, 4K/240fps, physical zoom control, 107 GB of internal storage and 4-channel audio for 500 EUR – it will be an extremely strong offering in this category. DJI did not rewrite the rules. They focused on what the previous generation lacked – and that is sometimes the right approach.

Mark your calendars for April 16th at 12:00 GMT. Xtreme.sk will bring you an update as soon as the official information is released.

FAQ

When is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 coming out?

The official unveiling is scheduled for April 16, 2026 at 12:00 GMT. Actual product availability is expected after April 22, 2026.

How much will the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 cost in Slovakia and the EU?

For the European market, including VAT, we estimate the price to be around 550 EUR for the standard version and 650 EUR for the extended/Creator version. Official EU prices will be confirmed on April 16th.

Is the Pocket 4 significantly better than the Pocket 3?

In specific areas, yes: dynamic range (14 EV vs. ~12.8 EV), 4K/240fps slow motion, physical zoom button, 107 GB of internal storage, and 4-channel audio. For the average Pocket 3 user, an upgrade is not necessary. For creators hitting the limits of the current model, the transition is justified.

Does the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 have a microSD slot?

This is not confirmed in any way. The retail packaging does not mention the slot, but 107 GB of internal storage would not be enough for professional vloggers and filmmakers as the only storage solution for long-term work. We assume that the slot is present in the camera - DJI is not actively communicating it, since the main selling feature is internal storage with high-speed transfer. April 16 will bring certainty.

Is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 waterproof?

No. Like the Pocket 3, the Pocket 4 is not intended for filming in water or in heavy rain.

What is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro and when is it coming out?

This is a standalone model with a dual-lens system – not a variant of the standard Pocket 4. Initial speculation about two lenses in the standard model did not come true, as confirmed by a DJI teaser on April 9. The Pro version has its own FCC number (2ANDR PP041), but does not yet have a confirmed date or availability for the EU. The expected launch is 2Q or 3Q 2026.

Is it worth buying the Pocket 3 now, or waiting for the Pocket 4?

We recommend waiting until April 16. Buying the Pocket 3 at full price a few days before the official unveiling of the successor is not an optimal decision - the price of the Pocket 3 will likely drop after the Pocket 4 is launched.

Do Pocket 3 accessories work on Pocket 4?

Not yet confirmed. Universal accessories like tripods and cold shoe adapters will likely be compatible. Specific accessories like microphone adapter or lens hood may vary. We recommend waiting for details after April 16th.

Where to buy DJI Osmo Pocket 4 in Slovakia?

The product will be available in our Eshop Xtreme.sk. For trouble-free warranty and service, we recommend purchasing from an authorized dealer - the complaint process and other services are significantly simpler and more practical than when purchasing from foreign e-shops.
