DJI Osmo Pocket 4P

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is a pocket gimbal with two physical lenses. The wide-angle 20mm f/2.0 is based on a 1-inch sensor, while the 60mm telephoto lens has an f/1.8 aperture and its own sensor. The camera handles 17 stops of dynamic range, records 4K at 240 frames per second, and weighs 230 grams. Price from €624 (Standard Combo). Pre-orders are open at Xtreme.eu.

Availability in Slovakia

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P has been officially introduced, but it is not yet available on the European market. Complete specifications are known. Prices are currently estimated (€624 Standard and €716 Vlog Combo). DJI has not yet announced a specific date for stocking in Slovakia and the rest of Europe.

We don't want to promise dates that we don't have confirmed. As an authorized DJI dealer, we are among the first in Slovakia to receive information about stock availability and will update this page as soon as we know more.

What you can do now: reserve your camera without obligation. A reservation is not an order. You pay nothing in advance, you are not obligated to anything, and you can cancel it at any time. It is used to ensure that you are among the first in line when the camera is in stock, and so that we can inform you before the rest of the market finds out.

More information about DJI Osmo Pocket 4P

The difference between the variants is ~ €90. If you are recording spoken word, the DJI Mic Mini 2 microphone and the FrameTap remote control would cost more if purchased separately than the difference between the packages.

The prices listed are DJI's estimated prices for the Slovak market. Since the camera is not yet available on the market, we will confirm the final prices on this page when it is in stock.

Colors: DJI has announced two versions, Classic Black and Pearl White. Only Classic Black will be available at launch, DJI has not yet announced a date for the white version.

What's new in Osmo Pocket 4P

Two real lenses, not a digital crop

Until now, every Pocket camera had a single lens. The Osmo Pocket 4P has two, each with its own image sensor:

  • 20mm f/2.0 on 1-inch CMOS sensor, for landscapes, group shots and selfie vlogs
  • 60mm f/1.8 on 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor, for portraits and distant details

When switching to 3x, the camera physically switches to the second lens. It's not a crop from the wide-angle image, so you don't lose resolution or detail. The cropped image is always softer than the native image, and the difference is visible at first glance.

That 60mm focal length is not chosen by chance. It is a classic portrait focal length that solves a specific problem: a wide-angle 20mm lens distorts the face when you stand close. The nose looks bigger, the ears recede back. At 60mm, this effect disappears. Moreover, the f/1.8 aperture on this sensor gives background blur roughly on the level of f/6.3 on a full-frame SLR.

17 aperture stops of dynamic range

The new 1-inch stacked sensor with LOFIC technology has pushed the dynamic range to 17 aperture stops in the D-Log 2 color profile. The Osmo Pocket 4 has 14 stops, the Pocket 3 had 12.5.

In practice, this opens up scenes that previously ended in compromise. When you shoot from a dark interior out through a window, you get a cartoon interior and what's behind the window instead of a white rectangle of light. The same goes for a portrait against the setting sun or exiting a tunnel into daylight.

D-Log 2 with 10-bit color depth

D-Log 2 is a new logarithmic profile that DJI has created for this sensor. It records over a billion shades of color and, according to DJI, has the best dynamic range among the Log profiles in the brand's consumer cameras at the time of launch.

If you color grade in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere, this is the main reason to switch from Pocket 3. If you edit directly on your phone, you won't use D-Log 2 and can leave it turned off.

There is one limitation: 10-bit D-Log 2 only works at 1x zoom. It is not available on the telephoto lens.

ActiveTrack 8.0 even at 12x zoom

Subject tracking works throughout the zoom range up to 12x. The Pocket 4 managed it up to 4x, which meant that for distant shots, tracking stopped working just when it was needed most.

Multi-Person Tracking has been added. The camera can keep up to eight people in the frame at once, and if someone walks into the frame while recording, the gimbal will automatically recompose the shot to fit them in. For group and family shots, this replaces the work that would otherwise have to be done by someone standing behind the camera.

Gesture control remains. An open palm starts tracking, a "V" gesture starts recording. Works up to 3 meters at 1x zoom and up to 15 meters at full zoom.

4K at 240 frames per second

The wide-angle lens records 4K slow-motion at up to 240 fps, the telephoto lens at up to 200 fps. That's eight times slower at full 4K resolution.

Regular recording goes up to 4K/60fps on both lenses, including vertical 3K (1728×3072) format for Reels and TikTok.

If you own a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, the upgrade to the Pocket 4P is worth it. You get a second lens, 4.5 stops of wider dynamic range, and 103GB of built-in storage that the Pocket 3 didn't have at all. The Pocket 4 is worth upgrading from if you're shooting portraits and using the 60mm focal length. The increase in dynamic range from 14 to 17 stops alone doesn't justify the upgrade.

Who is the Osmo Pocket 4P for and who is it not for?

It makes sense if:

  • You shoot interviews and portraits and have struggled with facial distortion on a wide-angle lens.
  • you work in scenes with hard contrast, i.e. in interiors with windows, in backlight or at sunset
  • you are filming yourself and need the camera to keep you in the frame without an assistant
  • you want to get both wide-angle and portrait shots from one device without changing lenses
  • you edit and color correct on your computer using D-Log 2

Consider another option if:

  • You need waterproofing. The Osmo Pocket 4P has no IP rating. For water, snow, and dust, an action camera like the DJI Osmo Action or GoPro is the right choice.
  • The key is endurance. 210 minutes is less than the 240 minutes on the Pocket 4. The €69 Battery Handle adds another 150 minutes if the basic endurance isn't enough for you.
  • You edit exclusively on your phone. Without color correction, you won't get the main advantage of the 4P, and the Pocket 4 will be cheaper.
  • Weight is critical. 230 grams versus 179 on the Pocket 4. You'll feel the extra 51 grams when carrying it all day, especially on a stabilizer or mount.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

What is the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P?

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is a pocket-sized gimbal with two physical lenses and 3-axis mechanical stabilization. The 20mm f/2.0 wide-angle lens sits on a 1-inch sensor and offers 17 stops of dynamic range, while the 60mm f/1.8 telephoto lens has its own 1/1.28-inch sensor. The camera weighs 230 grams, records 4K at up to 240 frames per second, and has 103 GB of built-in storage. The price starts at €624.

When will the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P be available in Slovakia?

DJI officially introduced the camera, including complete specifications and European prices, but it has not yet reached the European market. DJI has not announced a specific date for stocking in Slovakia to date. You can reserve the Osmo Pocket 4P at Xtreme.eu without obligation and we will inform you as soon as we receive information about availability. As an authorized DJI dealer, we are among the first to receive them in Slovakia.

How much does the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P cost in Slovakia?

DJI's suggested retail price for the Slovak market is €624 for the Standard Combo and €716 for the Vlog Combo. The Vlog Combo adds the Osmo FrameTap remote controller, the DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone, a mini tripod, and a larger bag. Since the camera is not yet available on the market, we will confirm the final retail prices when it is in stock.

What does a non-binding Osmo Pocket 4P reservation mean?

You don't have to pay anything upfront, you're not obligated to buy, and you can cancel your reservation at any time. It does two things: it puts you in line to be among the first customers when it's in stock, and it ensures that we inform you of availability and final price before the information hits the market.

Does the Osmo Pocket 4P really have two lenses?

Yes, these are two physically separate lenses, each with its own image sensor. The wide-angle 20mm lens uses a 1-inch CMOS, the telephoto 60mm lens uses a 1/1.28-inch CMOS. When switching to 3x, the camera switches to the second lens. This is not a digital crop of the wide-angle shot, so there is no loss of resolution.

What is the difference between Osmo Pocket 4P and Osmo Pocket 4?

The Osmo Pocket 4P adds a second 60mm f/1.8 lens, increases dynamic range from 14 to 17 stops, expands ActiveTrack from 4x to 12x zoom, increases video zoom from 4x to 12x and photo zoom from 2x to 9x, and speeds up the shutter speed from 1/8000s to 1/16,000s. The Osmo Pocket 4, on the other hand, has a longer battery life (240 vs. 210 minutes) and is lighter (179 vs. 230 grams). The display, microphones, battery, and connectivity are the same for both models.

Is the Osmo Pocket 4P waterproof?

No. DJI does not list any IP rating for the Osmo Pocket 4P, so the camera is not water or dust resistant. For filming in water, rain, or dusty environments, an action camera like the DJI Osmo Action or GoPro is better suited.

What does 17 stops of dynamic range mean?

Dynamic range is how much detail the camera can capture in both the darkest and brightest parts of the frame. At 17 stops, it can handle a scene with a dark interior and a bright window without blowing one out and the other out. This is when recording in the D-Log 2 color profile. For comparison, the Osmo Pocket 4 can capture 14 stops, while the Osmo Pocket 3 can capture 12.5 stops.

What is the battery life of the Osmo Pocket 4P?

The battery has a capacity of 1545 mAh and DJI lists 210 minutes of operation when recording in 1080p/24fps with Wi-Fi off and the display at a temperature of 25 ° C. When recording in 4K and with the display on, expect a shorter time. Charging to 80% takes 18 minutes, to 100% 32 minutes. The optional Battery Handle for € 71 adds another 150 minutes.

How much footage can fit in the built-in storage?

Osmo Pocket 4P has 103 GB of built-in memory, which at a maximum bitrate of 180 Mbps corresponds to approximately 75 minutes of recording in the highest quality. The storage can be expanded with a microSD card with a capacity of up to 1 TB. Data is transferred via USB 3.1 at speeds of up to 800 MB/s.

Does the Osmo Pocket 4P track multiple people at once?

Yes. Multi-Person Tracking can keep up to eight people in the frame at the same time. If someone enters the frame while recording, the gimbal will automatically recompose the composition so that everyone is in the frame. However, you cannot change the zoom while using this feature, so you must set the zoom level before turning it on.

Is it worth upgrading from Osmo Pocket 3 to 4P?

In most cases, yes. You get a second 60mm lens for portraits, dynamic range increases from 12.5 to 17 stops, 103GB of built-in storage (the Pocket 3 had none), slow-motion doubles from 4K/120fps to 4K/240fps, and battery life increases from 166 to 210 minutes. The upgrade from the Osmo Pocket 4 is especially worthwhile if you shoot portraits and use the 60mm focal length.

What is the difference between the Standard Combo and the Vlog Combo?

The Standard Combo for €624 includes the camera, Fill Light, 1/4″ handle, protective case, and USB 3.1 cable. The Vlog Combo for €716 adds the Osmo FrameTap remote controller with a range of 25 meters, the DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphone with clip and windscreen, the Osmo Mini Tripod, and a larger carrying case. If you’re recording spoken word, the Vlog Combo is a better value, as the microphone and controller alone cost more than the €90 difference between the packages when purchased separately.

What colors will the Osmo Pocket 4P be available in?

DJI has announced two color versions, Classic Black and Pearl White. Only Classic Black will be available at launch. DJI has not yet announced a date for the white version to be available.
