Integrated and modular design, both realized in one DJI Ronin 4D camera integrates movie image, 4-axis gimbal, LiDAR focusing and wireless video transmission and control, [1] allowing you to start recording quickly very conveniently. Its modular design supports expandable accessories, offering more creative possibilities.
The Ronin 4D integrates imaging and stabilization systems, leaving only the sensor and essential optical components in the gimbal camera. The gimbal's tilt axis uses dual symmetrical motors, while both the roll axis and the tilt axis are designed with an additional stiffness damper.
The compact and portable gimbal system allows you to start shooting without the need for lengthy manual balancing. This also provides stable shots even with lenses that shift their center of gravity during use.
With a highly integrated body and robust motor power, the Ronin 4D offers the best stabilization and tracking performance of the entire Ronin range to date at an incredibly low weight. In addition, it can switch to sports mode at the press of a button, which allows the gimbal to quickly react to the movements of the cameraman.
DJI's patented computer vision, deep learning technology and robust CineCore 3.0 computing power combine in ActiveTrack Pro, which enables cinema-standard tracking shots, even in a single shot. The technology also allows subjects to be tracked from a greater distance and offers continuous autofocus composition adjustment to keep subjects in focus during tracking shots.
DJI Ronin 4D adds a Z-axis to the traditional 3-axis gimbal, which effectively reduces vertical camera shake and offers stabilization performance on par with a dolly. The four axes work together with a downward-facing ToF sensor, front and bottom dual visual sensors, a built-in IMU, a barometer and an advanced new algorithm, and together take stabilization to a whole new level.
The Z-axis effectively eliminates the vertical camera handle and works with visual sensors and ActiveTrack Pro functionality, allowing you to easily create smooth and stable shots.
Autofocus is fast, accurate and reliable even in low light, and is now also available with manual lenses. LiDAR Waveform makes manual focusing more intuitive and convenient. Automated manual focus provides an unprecedented focusing experience.
DJI Ronin 4D makes manual focusing easier than ever. Visualized focus support technology displays distance points on the main and remote monitors in a simplified top-down view. This provides an innovative and intuitive LiDAR Waveform for fast focus point localization and enables focus adjustment with extreme precision. Even users with little or no experience can quickly learn manual focus.
LiDAR Range Finder can cast up to 43,200 ranging points within a 10-meter detection range. Compared with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), Ronin 4D's LiDAR Focusing System can focus faster, without compromising on image quality or relying on the surface texture of the object. This feature is very useful in low light environments and effects in exceptional focus capabilities that are associated with other film cameras. The LiDAR rangefinder can transmit up to 43,200 points within a range of 10 meters. Compared to phase detection autofocus (PDAF), Ronin 4D's LiDAR focusing system can focus faster without degrading image quality or relying on the surface texture of the subject. This is especially useful in low-light environments and offers exceptional focusing capabilities compared to other cinema cameras.
With a new LiDAR focusing system, the Ronin 4D is able to maintain focus even when there is severe motion blur caused by fast-moving objects. With the focus motor installed, automatic focus is also available with manual lenses. Continuous autofocus on objects can be activated together with ActiveTrack Pro, which is especially convenient for independent users.
Video transmission performance
DJI Ronin 4D uses the brand new DJI O3 Pro Video Transmission technology, offering a transmission range of 20,000 feet that would be unimaginable with traditional solutions. In addition to 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, it supports DFS frequency band and 256-bit AES encryption algorithm, which can broadcast FHD 1080p/60fps signal to multiple remote monitors at the same time, with greatly improved security, stability and anti-jamming ability . DJI's patented chip powers the Ronin 4D's imaging system, video transmitter and receiver, and remote monitor. Together, these components form an efficient wireless transmission system, with each connection explicitly optimized to provide end-to-end ultra-low transmission latency.
The 4D Video Transmitter can be directly mounted on the Ronin 4D and powered by the main body's battery. With a built-in wireless video receiver, the 7-inch 1500-nit high-brightness remote monitor has a high-brightness, wide-color gamut touch screen that can output both HDMI and SDI signals via an expansion module. Its compact and lightweight body provides optimal portability and efficient setup, so users can start shooting right away.
The high brightness remote monitor supports one transmitter with multiple receivers for video and audio. Two transmission modes are available. The first of them is the Broadcast mode, which sets no limit on the number of receivers and is suitable for monitoring with large crews. The second is the Control mode, which supports the coordinated operation of two receivers.
The high-brightness remote monitor can be connected to Ronin 4D handhelds, DJI Master Wheels, DJI Force Pro or the new DJI Three-Channel Follow Focus. This enables high-precision remote control of focus and gimbal movements, start and stop of recording and adjustments to camera settings to meet the highest standards of coordinated shooting. In addition, thanks to the built-in gyro sensor, the monitor can be turned into a remote controller for the movement of the Ronin 4D gimbal.
Mirror Control Mode provides the high-brightness remote monitor with an identical control interface to the main monitor, including all advanced features such as source playback, video specification and gimbal setup that can be adjusted remotely even when the Ronin 4D is mounted on expansion platforms. such as a crane, cable cam or vehicle mount.
The high-brightness remote monitor has a built-in microSD card slot that supports independent video recording at up to 1080p/60fps. When using several linked remote monitors, each monitor can play material independently without interfering with the other monitors.
